Internet Addiction 'A Clinical Disorder', claims Psychiatrist

Psychiatrist Dr. Jerald Block in an editorial for the American Journal Of Psychiatry claims that compulsive Internet use is a medical disorder that needs to be treated.

Symptoms include neclegcting fundamental needs such as eating or sleeping; feelings of anger or depression when a computer cannot be accessed; increased need for better computer equipment, etc.

Too much time spent playing online games, watching porn or emailing can lead to a compulsive-impulsive disorder, says Dr. Block.

Researchs found that highly educated men and middle aged women are more prone to Internet addiction.

Another study by British psychiatrists revealed that approximately 10% of the Internet users are addicted.
